Holocaust Encyclopedia now in Its 4th Edition
The next iteration of our Encyclopedia is here!
This release comes at the brink of us releasing the Spanish edition of our encyclopedia, and of the German edition being released by another publisher. While fine-combing through these two foreign-language editions, the editors came up with a wide range of suggestions to improve and enhance this fine work. We have gladly embraced most of these suggestions, as can be gleaned from the Encyclopedia’s Change Log, with its long list of changes implemented since March 2025. Apart from numerous corrections and clarification, as well as a number of text extensions to a few entries, we have added five more entries that are also accessible online:
Moreover, the list of Absurd Claims, one of our readers’ favorites, has received a few more items:
- SS man lined up 12 women and shot them all at once with just one bullet (Janda Weiss);
- mass murder at Treblinka by automatically cutting up people “with moving knives” in basement chamber underneath a sauna spa (Grossman, p. 267);
- murdering Jews at Sobibór by forcing them to jump off roof with umbrella (Rashke, p. 101);
- torturing and murdering people by pumping air into their anus, often until their intestines burst (Evans, p. 65);
And we are not standing still! Seven more foreign-translations are in the works, among them a French and a Polish edition, which may come out sometime this summer. They may result in yet more suggestions for improvements. Furthermore, readers and scholars keep sending us material for more entries, to convey more knowledge, and for more fun to our readers.
