A Classic Revisionist Book – Finally Back in Print!

In their Golden Years of the late 1970s to the late 1990s, the Institute for Historical Review (IHR) prided itself for publishing a number of Holocaust-revisionist books, many of which are now classics:
- Arthur Butz’s The Hoax of the Twentieth Century (1977),
- Walter Sanning’s The Dissolution of Eastern European Jewry (1983),
- Wilhelm Stäglich’s Auschwitz: A Judge Looks at the Evidence (1986),
- Paul Rassinier’s Debunking the Genocide Myth (1978; now as Ulysses’s Lie),
- and last but not least: Henri Roques’s The “Confessions of Kurt Gerstein (1989),
If you go to the IHR’s book store, you will find none of them. The IHR simply let these books go out of print over the past decades, and never made any effort to issue new editions. It is as if Holocaust revisionism has been erased from the IHR’s legacy. The only book still sold by them is Roger Garaudy’s The Founding Myths of Modern Israel, which deals with Holocaust revisionism only in one chapter (and not even very expertly).
To prevent these books from disappearing in the memory hole, Castle Hill Publishers (CHP) stepped in and, starting in 2003 with Dr. Butz’s Hoax, republished most of these books. When Armreg Ltd took over the CHP roster of books in early 2024, we continued this effort of keeping legacy books in print, among them those originally published by the IHR. We are grateful for the amicable cooperation of the IHR’s director Mark Weber to bring all these books back to life by issuing us the necessary licenses without charging us for it.
The next book on our to-do list was Henri Roque’s 1985 PhD thesis The “Confessions” of Kurt Gerstein. For this, we also received a generous license from the IHR. However, well into the project, I increasingly realized that the IHR’s 1989 English edition had too many flaws to proceed with our project as planned. In particular, it contained a lengthy “Afterword” by the translator which is peppered with unfounded claims and speculations as well as numerous false assertions, making me cringe repeatedly when reading it. Although I had invested already a lot of time into this project, I decided that a new approach needed to be made. First, I contacted a French publishing outlet who I hoped has access to the French original of Roques’s thesis. We got lucky in this regard, but then noticed that the IHR’s translation of the core text is not always agreeable. Hence, back to square one I went: We received permission to translate from scratch the current French edition, issued in 2020. It has a much more pertinent foreword by Roques’s lawyer, no spurious afterword, and numerous additional appendices, written by Roques himself, tracking the impact which Roques’s thesis had in the realm of Holocaust historiography.
Furthermore, I took the liberty to append a chapter to the thesis titled “40 Years later – 2025”, in which I put Roques’s thesis in the context of research done in that field over the past 40 years since the thesis was written.
Due to the many at times expansive appendices, the resulting work far exceeds the volume originally projected, but I think it is ultimately worth it. As you will discover when reading the book’s foreword and many appendices, Roques’s thesis – inspired by Paul Rassinier and Robert Faurisson – played a crucial role in the development of Holocaust revisionism. This is especially true for France, where it caused a public “scandal” lasting 3 (three!) years. The book also includes a personal note by Dr. Robert Faurisson’s sister Yvonne Schleiter, who typed up Roques’s PhD thesis, and helped him also in other ways to get this job across the finish line. But read it all for yourself:
